There's nothing like getting out of the city on a sticky summer day and relaxing in the country. A few weeks ago I attended a bridal shower for a friend at Barrel Oak Winery out in Delaplane, VA. The winery has an outdoor patio with comfortable chairs and tables for enjoying a picnic lunch while sipping good wine and taking in the panoramic views. It's only about an hour from Washington and a great easy way to get in a mini-vacation this summer.
